CHINA LEADS SURGE IN ASIAN PC SALES

Dataquest Corp says that 1 million personal computers were sold in China during the first half of 1997, and 4 million were sold in the Asia Pacific region as a whole. Sales were up 15% over last year in Asia Pacific, but 41% up in the Chinese region. Local company Legend Holdings Ltd is market leader, and aims to sell more than 300,000 computers this year, 50% up on last year’s figures.
