China is to see demand for an additional 2m cellular phones in 1996, the Xinhua news agency said. The number of mobile phones rose by 131.6% in 1995 compared with the previous year to 3.6m and an additional 15m subscribers were expected to emerge by 2000, Xinhua said. L M Ericsson Telefon AB served more than 60% of mobile phone users in China and its sales reached $1,200m in 1995; Ericsson has invested more than $100m in China and now has seven joint ventures and 13 offices.
