CHIBA UNIVERSITY ORDER CRAYS

Cray Research Inc has received a $4.6m contract from Chiba University for eight minisupercomputers, one superserver and 211 terminals: Cray Research Japan Ltd says the university will use the machines in courses ranging from law to horticulture, marking the first time supercomputers were used in general student body education; Cray Japan and its Canon Supercomputing SI partner won the bidding against many Japanese manufacturers.
