The firm upgraded NGX, its management platform, such that it now supports Check Point’s perimeter, host, web and internal network security products. It’s a first for the industry, according to Rich Weiss, director endpoint product marketing at the company.

There’s also universal updatability, the ability to get one set of prod updates to address new vulnerabilities for example, and distribute them all in one fell swoop to the security infrastructure, greatly simplifying your security solutions, Weiss said. You know they’re always up-to-date and consistent with each other.

While NGX enables administrators to push out policies, updates and configurations from one console, it does of course only support Check Point products. But Check Point said recently that its Eventia security event management software supports third-party logs.

While most of the company’s products have been built in-house in the past, its enterprise host security software, Integrity, was acquired from Zone Alarm, better known for its consumer firewalls. Integration this third-party software was the tough bit, Weiss said.
