Chase Manhatten Bank has handed Mercury Communications Ltd a UKP11m order for Centrex services over seven years, the biggest in the UK, says Mercury: initially the bank gets 1,500 lines to its London offices and another 1,600 to its Bournemouth premises; it looks as if the UK market for virtual PABXs is creeping into life at last – the new order means that Mercury’s now has deals for a total of 36,000 Centrex lines, up from 14,000 only 12 months ago; these lines are split between 80 firms.
