Chase Bank launches contactless credit cards

In a bid to increase the speed and convenience of credit card use, Chase Bank USA has begun the rollout of its new Chase contactless credit cards with "blink" technology in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area.

By CBR Staff Writer

To use the cards, the cardholder simply holds their card near a point-of-sale reader at checkout, instead of swiping the card or handing it to a store employee. As cardmembers hold their Chase card with blink near the point-of-sale reader, the reader will quickly emit a tone and light up to signal payment confirmation.

Tom O’Donnell, senior vice president of Chase card services, said, We believe the innovative cards with blink provide merchants and cardmembers with the increased speed and convenience they want at the point-of-sale. With blink, cardmembers in the Orlando, Daytona Beach and Melbourne areas can save time when making their everyday purchases.

Merchants that currently accept Chase blink card include 7-Eleven, AMC Theatres, CVS/pharmacy and Regal Entertainment Group. Chase expects the number of merchants accepting the card to grow steadily throughout the year.

The new cards also feature the traditional magnetic stripe and can be used anywhere Visa and MasterCard are accepted to make purchases.
