It looks as if John Sculley is not long for the Apple Computer Inc world: at the Newton launch, the San Jose Mercury News reports, whenever reporters asked, he would simply tell them he had come to talk about the Newton, but did acknowledge he hasn’t begun his formal sabbatical, having spent the last few weeks on the East Coast looking for an office in Manhattan; the sabattical may give him time to decide whether to return something one highly placed Apple executive said is still unresolved in Sculley’s mind; another source with close ties to Apple told the San Jose paper Sculley was likely to remain involved but uncommitted when his leave ends next month.
