CGE “NO LONGER WANTED HOLDING IN SESA”

By CBR Staff Writer

Commenting on the sale of its 51% holding in Sesa SA to CAP Gemini Sogeti SA (see front page), CGE commented ungraciously to Reuters that it no longer wanted the holding because Sesa’s technology had been overtaken by CGE’s own computer services division (GSI): CGE points out that the French Transpac public packet switched network used to use the Sesa DPS-25 packet switch but had now moved over to the Alcatel X-83 switch; nevertheless, CGE will continue to collaborate with Sesa on some projects; the X-83 comes from CGE’s joint venture with ITT Corp; all parties have declined to reveal the terms of the sale of Sesa to CAP Gemini.
