Cesar Castillo uses Sybase RFID to extend inventory management system

Puerto Rican pharmaceutical company Cesar Castillo is using the RFID Enterprise product from Sybase, a provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, as a data repository and integration platform to extend the capabilities of its inventory management systems.

Sybase said the new program captures data on RFID tags, which electronically stores item information, and lines up with existing inventory systems to ensure that the physical inventory agrees with the back-end electronic systems.

Success with RFID is achieved when RFID data is used to create a deeper level of visibility and understanding of business events, and thereby improve related business processes, said David Barrack, senior director of worldwide solutions, Sybase. What could have required three to four vendors to accomplish, by choosing RFID Enterprise, Cesar Castillo now has access to a cohesive end-to-end solution based on a non-proprietary set of standards that allows it to efficiently manage all of its RFID assets using just one system.
