GM Hughes Electronics Corp reports that its M6100 dual standard analogue-digital cellular telephone has been cleared for operation in the US and Canada: the M6100 is now in production and will begin shipping this summer to cellular carriers that have announced their intention to begin offering digital services in the near future; the company says that orders for over 60,000 phones have already been taken.
