CERPROBE BUYS SCS TO EXTEND EUROPEAN REACH

Gilbert, Arizona-based probe card maker Cerprobe Corp has bought privately held French probe card manufacturer SemiConducter Services SA (SCS) for $3m in cash. The US firm already has subsidiaries in Scotland – Cerprobe Europe Ltd – and Singapore and Taiwan – Cerprobe Asia. The company has bought SCS to extend its reach in France and Southern Europe – home of STMicroelectronics (STM) SA and IBM Corp’s chip making plants. Probe cards are IC testing devices.
