Diversified electronic maintenance company Cerplex Group Inc, Anaheim, California has a non-binding memorandum of understanding with British Telecommunications Plc that it will buy British Telecom’s UK repair services business and enter into a five-year supply contract to provide the phone company with repair services covering a range of its products. Terms of the proposed pact were not disclosed; the repair service business currently employs about 500 people and Cerplex would acquire BT’s largest UK repair base with 200,000 square feet of space. Cerplex is keen to expand its telecommunications repair business internationally, and sees the deal as giving it new access to the European market a platform from which to expand its operations in Europe.
