Atos Origin awarded Cerner the contracts, and is responsible for providing diagnostic services to meet the government’s target of a maximum 18 week wait from a doctor’s referral to treatment. The services also cover appointment booking and test results.
Cerner’s solution will be based on its patient administration system and radiology information system/picture archiving and communication system.
Financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed. Cerner was originally phased in as a software supplier in July 2006, replacing GE Healthcare, for the London region of the national IT project. For these two contracts, the company will provide services for the southwest and northwest regions of England.
