Cerner has announced an agreement with data centre services provider Equinix, to utilise Equinix’s London 5 (LD5) International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre to offer a Remote Hosting Option (RHO) for its healthcare offerings.
The company said that its RHO service will include secure hosting, hardware and connectivity, and will be immediately available to NHS Trusts and private organisations in the UK.
The service allows healthcare providers to take advantage of Cerner’s administrative, clinical and patient care offerings, and coupled with Equinix’s data centre services, enables NHS trusts and other organisations to build, maintain and secure an HIT infrastructure.
Cerner said remote hosting Cerner offerings at Equinix’s facility enable: improved operational efficiency through increased system availability and performance; and reduced time and cost spent hosting and implementing IT systems.
Cerner’s vice president and general manager of the UK and Ireland Alan Fowles said the company’s remote hosting option will benefit their UK clients by enabling them to focus on what they do best- delivering high quality care.
"With RHO, Cerner takes the accountability for hosting our solutions and managing risk, ensuring our clients achieve operational efficiency without having to worry about system security, uptime or availability," Fowles said.
