San Jose, California-based Centrum Communications Inc has just bought out its CentrumRemote remote access server which provides laptops and other remote personal computers with direct, transparent access to corporate networks: apart from the client software, the product consists of a modular remote access server that can be configured with 4, 8 or 16 remote access ports while providing local or remote routing using optional Ethernet and T-1 interface modules, and the last should be available later this year; the first release of CentrumRemote supports MS-DOS, Windows and Unix AppleTalk; support for Macintosh computers will be available in the first quarter of 1993; a 16-port remote server is $6,300.
