The Beaverton, Oregon-based Central Point Software Inc utilities firm is enhancing its presence in the Apple Computer Inc Macintosh market with definitive agreement to buy the assets of Glendale, California-based Maxa Corp, on undisclosed terms. The agreement will add Maxa’s desktop diagnostic products, Alert! and Snooper, to Central Point’s Macintosh utilities family, which the company reckons will enable it to offer complete, one-stop data protection for Macintosh users. Brent Luckman, founder and chief executive of Maxa, becomes general manager of the firm’s Macintosh business unit.
