Compuware Corp has acquired a number of products from Centerline Software Inc to boost up its software quality tools. Compuware takes Centerline’s Acqua software quality management and application delivery management system, both aimed at the distributed test process management market. It also gets AcquaNavio, which tests CORBA common object request broker components. The products will be integrated with QACenter, CompuWare’s enterprise testing software. Compuware claimed lead position in 1997 worldwide revenue marketshare for automated software quality tools, according to IDC Corp figures. Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Centerline had hoped to re-invent itself with the Acqua line of software quality tools, and only launched its AcquaNova component testing product back in February (CI No 3,347) claiming it to be the first of its kind. The company still has its older CodeCenter and ObjectCenter application software development suites.
