Expanding out of its established PC Card base, Billerica, Massachusetts-based Centennial Technologies Inc has introduced personal computer boards for mobile multimedia applications and global positioning, and some compression software. The Video FrameGrabber board provides the ability to capture motion video, screen stills, and live video overlays. It accepts input from any standard NTSC or PAL-compatible source. It’s available now and costs $400. The Global Positioning NMEA board builds on the company’s existing land-based global positioning technology and is designed for use at sea, and it represents Centennial’s first venture into nautical global positioning products. Available now, it costs $800. Back in its traditional field, the Diplomat is a type II PC Card receptor, designed to interface with laser printer devices. Pre-programmed data stored within it, such as signatures, logos or forms, can be accessed through the Diplomat. It is $400 and is shipping now. The Windows-based Eazizip data compression ha s a compression rate of six to one. It is said to be available now, but the company has yet to finalise prices for it. And Centennial has also expanded the capacity of its rechargeable static RAM PC Cards, which are now offered in capacities up to 4Mb, this capacity costing $1,300.
