Centel Corp, Chicago, wants to sell its 82% holding in Centel Cable Television Co in order to concentrate on its fixed and cellular telephone interests – and analysts say the stake could be worth more than $1,000m; Centel also, as reported very briefly on Friday (CI No 1,071), has the four-year $29.4m contract from the General Services Administration to oversee the work of whichever consortium – those led by AT&T Co, MCI Communications Corp or US Sprint Communications – gets to win the $25,000m 10 year FTS2000 US government communications pact.
