Centec Networks, a provider of carrier-grade IP/Ethernet offering, has introduced a new hardware based MPLS-TP OAM offering, supporting both BFD extension for MPLS-TP and GACH + Y.1731 standards.

The company said the new offering enables telecommunication equipment vendors to develop standard based MPLS-TP systems that fits both IETF and ITU-T standards.

The offering is based on the company’s latest transport-oriented packet switching core silicon Humber/Manhattan/Brooklyn from the TransWarpTM family and a dedicated OAM Engine on FPGA (CliftonTM).

MPLS-TP application offers complete MPLS-TP OAM functionalities for equipments from edge to core and supports hardware based fast CCM (3.3ms) generation and UP/DOWN MEP functions.

It can work with the OAM engine inside Humber/Manhattan/Brooklyn to support a host of OAM protocols, including 802.1ag Ethernet CFM, 802.3ah EFM,Y.1731, BFD for IP/MPLS, GACH + Y.1731 (BHH draft) and BFD for MPLS-TP OAM.

The new offering offers sub-50ms recovery for network availability as it can work together with TransWarp’s built-in One-Bit Automatic Protection Switching (APS) mechanism, and integrates 1588v2 (both one-step and two-step) and SyncE which provide a complete reference design platform for telecom equipment vendors.

The hardware application offers support for both BFD extension and GACH + Y.1731 standards, enabling OEMs to easily develop a common product regardless of the OAM favored by the carrier.

The company said the TransWarpTM family is designed for Carrier Ethernet and Packet Transport Networks with NPU-like flexibility, where its new offering can further reduce vendors’ R&D cost and dramatically shorten customer’s time to market.
