As part of the agreement, Cellular South wireless users will be able to send money directly from their mobile device to any mobile phone number and instantly receive money from any Obopay user. In addition, users will be able to check account balances and view transaction histories, as well as invite friends to use the service.
Furthermore, the service comes with an optional Obopay Prepaid MasterCard, which gives Obopay users instant access to the funds that are sent to their Obopay account and lets them spend them at more than 24 million retail locations and 1.1 million ATMs in the US.
This service is the first of a range of m-commerce solutions the wireless carrier plans to deploy.
Today’s wireless services need to provide solutions for all aspects of life on-the-go, which is why Cellular South is committed to driving mobile payments and m-commerce adoption throughout our service area, said Greg Latour, senior vice president of technology development for Cellular South. We are very excited to add Obopay to our menu of innovative offerings to further enhance the mobile experience for our customers.
