CELLULAR AND SATELLITE TECHNOLOGY TO BOOM ON THE HIGHWAY

Cellular and satellite-based systems designed for automotive navigation and communications are being tipped as the next big boom, according to industry leaders speaking at the Automotive Land Navigation Conference Inc. The market could be worth $3bn by 2003, last year the figure stood at $225m, if consumers boost the Global Positioning System that pinpoints exact locations of vehicles and people anywhere in the world.
