CellGuide, a Host-based GNSS solution provider, and ApusOne, a provider of low power multimedia platform ICs, have collaborated to provide Android-based location platform combining CellGuide’s ACLYS single die GPS offering and the ApusOne MAP200 Multimedia mobile processor.

CellGuide said that the new multimedia application processor is targeted for use within mobile tablets, portable media players, and car infotainment systems.

The new offering provides HD 1080p quality video decoder to mobile devices without video format limitation.

In addition, the offering consists an integrated GPS facility that enhances user experience in a variety of location-based applications and scenarios.

According to CellGuide, the ACLYS GPS chip and the associated host-based GPSense firmware replace dedicated GPS silicon by leveraging mobile processors and other wireless components inside the mobile device to provide built-in multi beacon GPS functionality.

ApusOne CEO Zhao said that their MAP200 together with CellGuide’s advance GPS location engine will enable manufacturers to implement their next generation Mobile Android devices at a competitive pricing for mass market adoption.
