The company has timed the launch to come just in time for the annual Christmas rush in mobile phone sales.

So far the details of the network have been shrouded in secrecy. The network tariffs will not be announced until just two days before the launch date, causing speculation that the company is hoping to steal a march on the two existing networks, by undercutting their prices.

According to Reuters, Cell-C hopes to win a 15% to 20% stake in the market by 2008.
