CBS 3 to provide local video for Yahoo! News

CBS 3 is to become the exclusive provider of local news video for Yahoo!'s news website.

By CBR Staff Writer

CBS Television Stations and Yahoo! claim that this is the first video agreement between a network-owned TV station group and an internet news provider.

Yahoo! users across the US will now have access to CBS’s 16 owned stations’ local news video, including breaking news and exclusive video footage on Yahoo!’s local news portal. As a result, local news video produced by CBS 3 can now be accessed on the Yahoo! News website, rounding out Yahoo!’s national and international coverage with local reports and video.

CBS-3 video will be imbedded with links on the Yahoo! homepage and local news sections directing users back to www.cbs3.com, where they can view more video and stories.

This is the second digital venture announced by the station in recent months. In August, CBS 3 began offering viewers news video directly to their cell phones and other wireless devices. This initiative was the result of a partnership between The CBS Television Stations Digital Media Group and CBC New Media Group’s News Over Wireless and Weathernews, two wireless application providers.
