A Chinese smartband maker has introduced a wristband with gesture control, which is expected to compete against the likes of Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation.
The band, called Cavy Play, is capable of connecting to any mobile device through Bluetooth and enables users to play games through gestures alone.
The device eliminates the need of internet, as users only need internet to download the games but not to play them.
The Wall Street Journal cited Cavy Technology CEO Frank Chang as saying: "Our proprietary technology is more mobile compared to rivals.
"Xbox One’s Kinect sensor is composed of an infrared camera and projector.
"Cavy Play band is compact as we pack several advanced sensors, battery and other components in a tiny tracker which allows the user to play games through gestures for eight consecutive hours and with 30-days of standby."
Frank Chang was the former general manager of IBM’s eastern China operation, and his company has raised millions of dollars to expand its operations.

The company also received an undisclosed amount from Apple’s major iPhone assembler Foxconn, and the company is also helping Cavy to produce the wristband.
Cavy is also reportedly developing a virtual reality headset that would work with its wristband.
