CASIO SET TO LAUNCH TWO NEW JOINT VENTURES

Casio Computer Co Ltd says it will launch two joint ventures in China to make pagers next month: Shanghai Guo-Mai Casio Telecommunication Co Ltd, capitalised at $1.5m, will be owned 21% by Casio, 19% by Mitsui & Co Ltd and 60% by China’s Shanghai Guo Mai Union Co Ltd, and forecasts sales of $23m in 1995, Reuter reported; Casio Lang Chao Communication & Electronics Co Ltd, based in Jinan in eastern China and capitalised at $7.5m, will be owned 29% by Casio, 21% by Nichimen Corp and 50% by China’s Lang Chao Electronics Information Industrial Group Co, and will also produce Chinese-language word processors; it projects sales of $93m for calendar 1995.
