Case Communications Ltd has an OEM agreement with Able Computer Communications from Irvine, California and says it hopes the deal will win it a psychological edge in its fight to fend off the hostile bid from Gandalf Technologies by showing the group making progress in the US where performance has been weak. Under the three-year agreement, Case and Able will sell each other’s kit the Case DCX multiplexor, local area network interface boards for DEC VAX and MicroVAX from Able – and jointly develop new products. Development started six months ago and will focus on coupling networking products more closely with DEC minis. Case users will be able to access Able’s Ethernets and DEC hosts directly, Able will add wide area connectivity to its Easyway Ethernetworking range.
