Prestige Software International, the division of Computer Associates International Inc, responsible for the development and marketing of financial and human resource management packages, will today enhance its flagship offering, Masterpiece/Net, with a workflow capacity. Masterpiece/Net is Prestige’s core product, a web-enabled enterprise financial management tool with modules for consolidation, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, fund accounting, inventory control, job cost, labor distribution, draft services and purchasing. The new add-on is called Business Process Flow (BPF) and uses, as its underlying technology, the Java jFlow software produced by Canada’s The Workflow Automation Corporation, from Markham, Ontario. Earlier this month Prestige, unveiled an application customization environment (ACE) addition to Masterpiece/Net, which enables users to customize APPs without changing the base product, via rapid entry screens, queries and reports from desktop tools such as Microsoft Office. The BPF offering makes it possible to create automatic procedures within general ledger or sub-ledger, such as all the signings-off required before an invoice can be paid to a vendor. BPF tracks the progress of the invoice and the payment order through the company’s system, automatically generating e-mails to those people responsible for authorizing payments.
