Voters in Cary, North Carolina were deciding on Friday whether to approve an extension to the Cary Parkway by approving a $149m bond referendum. The problem is that, if agreed, the road extension will cut through the entrance of a private school founded by the state’s richest man, Jim Goodnight, president of SAS Institute. Goodnight says that, if the road goes through, he will bombard the 300 or 400 acres he owns around the road with new development, and then probably move.
