Carrera Computers Inc is calling that new dual-Alpha 500 NT systems it has (CI No 3,056) the Cobra II. It claims the machine is a brand new design, not a warmed over iteration of its current boxes. Cobra IIs will be initially fitted out as network servers and rendering engines, each with the appropriate software. Prices start from $15,000 for either bundle. The net package includes a copy of Microsoft Corp’s Internet Information Server and FrontPage, Digital Equipment Corp’s FX32 translation kit and Exchange Server and it should be used in a clustered configuration. The Cobra II Render Server takes ScreamerNet II to turn out high-end video productions.
