Carlton Communications Plc and TF1, two major broadcasters in the UK and France, Thursday announced they are in exclusive negotiations to launch a joint venture called @lliance in order to operate internet businesses across Europe. Each company will contribute 50m euros ($50.6m) to the venture. No specifics were disclosed, except that sports and entertainment would be recurring themes, and there will be some element of e-commerce. Both companies will leverage their offline brands to promote their internet activities.
