Amazon has launched Amazon Vehicles, a research portal featuring car parts and reviews for new and old models.

The website has been designed to be hub for car parts, but also as a platform for auto-owners, where customers can view specifications, images, videos and reviews from other customers for thousands of car and motorcycle models.

Customers can also obtain information when shopping for vehicles, parts and accessories. According to Amazon, they can get reviews on everything from Jeep Wrangler, Tesla Model S, Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Mustang.

Amazon Vehicles will feature research tools, which customers can use to get comprehensive pages with specifications, images, videos and customer reviews for thousands of vehicles.

Amazon says that it is easy to search for vehicles on the site with simple search criteria such as year, make, model, customer rating, miles per gallon (MPG), towing capacity among others.

The second feature of Amazon Vehicles deals with community engagement.

Users can browse through tens of thousands of vehicle reviews and can also submit their own reviews. Users can also raise query about vehicles with other users and obtain intricate information.

Recently, Amazon has partnered with Hyundai’s North American division to bring out a new programme called, “Prime Now. Drive Now”, where customers could book a test drive with Hyundai through Amazon.

The programme is for Amazon Prime users and once the booking is confirmed, Hyundai will send a car to the customer’s home for test drive.

Analysts say that in the coming months, Amazon Vehicle could provide a platform to buy and sell used cars and could be completing  with other sites in the domain such as eBay, Craigslist, TrueCar, AutoTrader, Cars.com and others.

Amazon.com Automotive director Adam Goetsch said: “Our goal is to support customers during one of the most important, research-intensive purchases in their lives by helping them make informed decisions every step of the way.

“Amazon Vehicles is a great resource for customers who are interested in car information or looking for a broad selection of parts and accessories – all enhanced by the ability to tap into the knowledge, opinions, and experiences of other car owners within the Amazon customer community.”
