Consultancy and outsourcing giant Capgemini has secured a £13.7m, five year contract with multinational engineering and design consultancy Atkins.

The deal will see Capgemini provide support for both IT infrastructure and core corporate applications including finance, human resources and payroll.

The contract runs until 2014 and renews and extends IT outsourcing arrangements between the companies dating from 2001. In that time, Capgemini managed the transition from locally-based IT facilities to integrated systems.

The company says the integrated systems are based on JD Edwards and Oracle software and tailored to the needs of Atkins international business.

Over the duration of this contract, Atkins hopes to further streamline its business processes as well as improve customer service and cost efficiency.

Atkins has been expanding its international footprint over the last few years and is now said to be the largest multidisciplinary consultancy in Europe and the world’s eighth largest global design firm.

The company has been appointed the official engineering design services provider for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Linda Barker, IS head of finance and HR systems at Atkins, said: “Capgemini won the bidding on the quality of their work for us since 2001 and the excellent relationship they maintain with Atkins. We especially value their commitment to total collaboration with our business, and to ongoing proactive innovation. We are delighted to be working with them for a further five years.”
