CAP GEMINI WINS FURTHER BRITISH STEEL CONTRACT

By CBR Staff Writer

Cap Gemini SA has won a four year contract to manage distributed computing at British Steel Engineering Steels. The contract announcement comes less than a month after IBM Corp was told it would not be awarded a 10-year contract, worth 350m pounds, to take on the facilities management of the whole of British Steel’s technology systems (CI No 3139). Cap Gemini’s contract will be worth 3.1m pounds, providing management and support of more than six distributed systems and some 500 desktop personal computers at British Steel’s manufacturing sites in Yorkshire. The contract covers hardware, software and networking support. 12 British Steel employees will move to Cap Gemini.
