Cap Gemini, the IT services and business consultancy, is buying the UK Finance and Commerce arm of AT&T Corp for an undisclosed sum – which is believed to be in the region of 25m pounds. The 150 employees involved, who specialize in electronic commerce and customer relationship management. will transfer to Cap Gemini immediately. They were responsible for developing the loyalty card scheme for Boots the Chemist and will complement Cap Gemini’s own activities in the area. Cap Gemini is engaged in an ambitious expansion of its UK operations and plans to take on 2,500 more staff this year.
