CAP GEMINI INCREASES UK RECRUITMENT AS DEMAND SOARS

By CBR Staff Writer

The UK remains one of the most buoyant markets for Cap Gemini, the French computer services and business consultancy company. Revenues soared by 57% to 276m pounds in the first half of this year compared with a rise for the company as a whole of 28.4% (CI No 3,449). Cap Gemini originally planned to increase its UK workforce by 2,500 this year but, with 2,000 extra staff now in place, it now intends to increase its payroll by 3,500 by the end of the year. While high market demand for Year 2000 related work has contributed to growth, Cap Gemini says they are not significantly exposed to demand that will inevitably diminish in 1999.
