Cap Gemini Sogeti SA, which claims to be Europe’s largest computer services and business consultancy company, is planning a big push for business in the US and Canadian utilities market following an alliance with Arlington, Virginia-based consultancy Hagler Bailly. The two organizations are to set up a 50-50-owned subsidiary Cap Gemini Hagler Bailly LLC to which both companies will transfer ‘key senior professionals’ and invest an undisclosed sum. What Cap Gemini will bring to the alliance is experience of utilities in the UK and Sweden, two countries where deregulation and competition is further advanced than in the US. As part of the deal, Cap Gemini will buy a 5% shareholding in Hagler Bailly.
