CANON TO SELL 32-BIT JAPANESE-MADE AT-ALIKES ABROAD

By CBR Staff Writer

Canon Inc is to sell 32-bit Japanese-made AT-alikes abroad: its current activities in that field encompass selling Taiwanese Acer Inc machines OEM in Japan and participating in the AX project with Sanyo Electric, Mitsubishi Electric, Sharp Corp and Kyocera Corp; it says it is also planning to adapt the specifications of the NAVI office automation machine – a splendid gimmick that combines facsimile machine, printer, telephone and modem in a square box supported by the AT – for the export market; its AT alikes will use either the 80386SX or the true 80386 microprocessor.
