Canon (UK) Ltd has thrown out Cobol/CICS and DL/1 and opted for an object-oriented development environment for its DOS/VSE system: it has bought into the Sapiens product from London EC1-based Sapiens UK Ltd because it offers 3:1 productivity gains and coexists within the CICS environment, sharing both DL/1 and VSAM datasets.
