Canon Australia hopes to make $17m this year from its new Integrated Solutions division. Canon says the local IS division is a world first for the company. With a staff of 50, it will focus on drawing business from six vertical markets: bank and non-bank finance, mining, government, education, healthcare, and transport. Canon’s digital products such as scanners, optical cards and webcasting systems will carry the new division’s service offerings. IS is not simply repackaging existing offerings, said general manager Ian Smith in a statement. It is opening up brand new areas – setting up a document management solutions business and establishing itself in the burgeoning multimedia field.
