Privately-held Los Angeles mainframe software house Candle Corp took a significant step in its Unix systems management strategy, by announcing planned interoperability with Microsoft Corp, IBM Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co and Sun Microsystems Inc object-oriented environments. The technology will be employed in Omegacenter, the company’s systems management technology, due up under Windows NT and the AIX, HP-UX and Solaris Unixes, by the end of the year. Candle says that it is planning to build a Microsoft COM Common Object Model-like Object Linking & Embedding-to-Corba connection to bridge the Unix and the Windows NT environments.
