Candle is keen to wave the flag for its move away from its MVS mainframe base, into the Unix environment with its Availability Command Centre. The tools, based on the company’s Candle Technologies architecture, were announced at the end of March (CI No 2,386) and will not be shipped until December 31, but beta tests are under way in both the US and Europe, with American Express Co an early user. Candle will be demonstrating the Unix-based management software, running under HP-UX, AIX and SunOS, as well as Windows NT, in the UK in the middle of the month. It will be at the Enterprise IS exhibition, taking place at London’s Earls Court.
