Candle Corp has announced an enhanced Version 110 of its Omegamon performance monitor for IBM’s DB2 high-end relational database. The menu-driven monitor is designed to enable users to take control of DB2 resources, and zoom in on user applications. Key feature of Version 110 is an application trace facility which tracks a DB2 request and analyses its use of resources, without exploiting DB2 traces. Candle believes the trace capability will prove particularly useful to database administrators and application programmers attempting to evaluate DB2 viability at the research stage. The facility supports both DB2 Version 2.1, and ESA Enterprise Systems Architecture. Candle claims that it has already signed 12 new users for the product, which starts shipping next week. Version 110 is priced at UKP12,000 per CPU model group.
