Systems management company Candle Corp has acquired PowerQ Software Inc, a Norcross, Georgia-based developer of application test and development software for IBM’ Corp’s MQSeries messaging middleware. Candle, currently on a mission to become all things MQSeries, recently took a stake in MQSeries expert company Across Data Systems Inc (CI No 2,967), and also hired Steve Craggs, a senior manager from IBM’s MQSeries group (CI No 3,003), who said the new acquisition would allow Candle to provide applications developers with the edit and test functions they need for MQ message-based applications. PowerQ products include PQEdit, a testing tool that enables users to populate and edit MQ messages. It’s the first available product in a planned series of productivity tools. The firm was only founded this year by Bill Emerson, another MQSeries guru. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
