Systems management software house Candle Corp has acquired Australian consulting and software development firm Somerset Systems. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Somerset provides a range of IT development services and claims strength in the areas of MQSeries, Notes/Domino and the internet. Candle says the acquisition comes as part of its worldwide EAI push and reckons the deal makes it the EAI leader in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia/Pacific region. For Somerset, the company says the deal came at a time when it had reached a point where further investment was needed to grow to the next level. Somerset chief Chris Stockton will continue to manage the business and will become director of EAI Services for Candle’s Asia/Pacific region, reporting to Candle’s global consulting and services group. á
