Meantime Intellon Corp, Ocala, Florida has licensed its Spread Spectrum Carrier technology to Domosys Lab Corp, which will use it to CEBus-compliant products for home automation. Domosys Lab is a consortium of Canadian companies sponsored by IBM Canada Ltd, Hydro-Quebec Ltd, Mitel Corp and Comptel Domotique Ltd, and it plans to develop chips components based on the Spread Spectrum technology and the CEBus standard. Intellon’s system is the wireless technology behind CEBus, which enables products and systems to be networked over multiple media in the home, providing the in-home infrastructure for the information highway, and enables devices to communicate with each other over power lines or radio frequency transmissions for applications such as access control, lighting control and heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and automatic meter reading and electrical demand-side monitoring and control for utilities.
