The Canadian PC market total shipments in the third quarter of 2010 crossed 1.9 million units with a growth rate of 8.5% year-over-year and 30% to second quarter of 2010, according to a new research from IDC Canada.
Portable PC shipments grew by 5% year-over-year with approximately 1.3 million units shipped, while desktop PC shipments increased by 16.5% and reached 633,000 units in the third quarter of 2010.
However, IDC Canada said that Canadian PC market was slightly behind the worldwide PC market, which experienced 9.7% year-over-year growth in third quarter of 2010.
The worldwide year-over-year growth rates for portable PCs and desktop PCs were 13.4% and 4.8%, respectively.
HP maintained its top position in Canadian PC market with a 27.6% unit share and also led with 28.8% share of Desktop shipments and 27.1% share of Portable shipments.
Acer held the second place with a 18.7% share of total PC shipments, while Dell stood third with a 14.7% PC market share.
The market analyst said that in the third quarter of 2010, the average selling values (ASVs) increased by 15.9% over the third quarter of 2009.
