Canadian telemarketing giant, Watts Communications Ltd, is set to invest $6m in a multilingual call center based in Tasmania. The center will service the Asia-Pacific, and will offer English, Cantonesee, Mandarin, Korean and Vietnamese languages. According to John Moore, Federal Minister for Industry Science and Tourism, the Tasmanian center is Watts’ first venture outside North America. Australia’s call center industry is growing by 25% per annum and employs around 50,000 people. This is expected to increase to 300,000 jobs in the next decade.
