Canadian Finance Minister Paul Martin included in his budget a $175m technology fund to promote investment in high technology products. Technology Partnerships Canada will be made up of existing funds from Industry Canada and new reallocated resources. The goverment will also expand its SchoolNet program, introduced in 1994 to link the country’s 16,000 schools and public libraries to the Internet and will take steps to promote new wireless services, including the auctioning of Radio Spectrum.
